Job Purpose

The Cath Lab Scrub Nurse supports cardiologists by preparing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, anticipating surgical needs, and ensuring safe, effective patient care during invasive cardiovascular
procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

· Prepare the sterile field and arrange instruments and supplies before procedures.

· Scrub in and assist cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures (e.g., angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker/ICD insertion).

· Handle sterile instruments, guidewires, and catheters with precision and adherence to aseptic technique.

· Anticipate the needs of the physician and team during procedures.

· Maintain strict infection control protocols and surgical counts.

· Assist in pre-procedure patient preparation and positioning.

· Monitor and respond to patient status changes during procedures.

· Collaborate with the circulating nurse and other Cath lab team members to ensure smooth workflow and patient safety.

· Document procedures, instruments used, and medications administered accurately

· Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations (e.g., cardiac arrest, Code STEMI).

· Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed.

· Adhere to radiation safety protocols and regulatory standards.

Job Specifications:

· Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

· Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in managing similar roles in hospitals

· Technical Skills: Knowledge of cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology procedures.

· Management Skills: Strong physical stamina to assist with patient positioning, transfer, and standing for extended periods.

· Communication Skills: Good command over English, Kannada. Ability to resolve problems through effective communication
